I was born in 1986 at Kangemi; a small town located in the outskirts of Nairobi city. My childhood was not as pleasant; I faced hardship, rejection and abuse that brutally bruised my self esteem.
I accepted the Lord Jesus into my life in 2002. However, till 2012[when I joined GLM] my Christian life was nothing but religious. My life was so full of struggles that I had given up. Nothing seemed to work in my favour. I had even quit church and wanted nothing to do with it. I never thought I would amount to anything in life. My turning point was in 2012, when a friend of mine introduced me to GLM.
The first service I attended in GLM was amazing and refreshing. I felt the tangible love of God and my soul found rest. It was amazing to see young people celebrate the Word of God, and pay undivided attention to it–something I had never seen in my life. After that service, the warmth that I received from the saints in church made me feel that I belonged. I found home in Global Light and I have never looked back since then.
One thing that has been of tremendous impact on me since I joined GLM is The Word of God. My Pastor has taught me The Word of God without reservations and the eyes of my heart have been enlightened. The Word of God has built my self esteem. I have learnt who I am in Christ, my rights in Him, my value to Him and my position in the Kingdom of God.
The teachings of the Word of God through my Pastor have caused me to transcend from the place of hopelessness to a place of sure hope. My mind has been renewed and I testify that my life has moved from one level of glory to another.
I have learnt how to make my faith work. My mum went to be with the Lord three years ago. At that time, my younger sister was sitting for her K.C.P.E examination and that meant that she was going to join High School the following year. I had to fend for her yet I had neither a job nor any source of income. Things were not smooth but I had kept my hope alive and worked out my Faith. I took a hold of scriptures like Hebrews 11:1, 1 Corinthians 1:9, Psalms 75:6, 2 Corinthians 9:8 and 1 John 5:4 among others. I spoke those verses to myself daily. Certainly, our hope doesn’t not disappoint. God opened doors for us; my sister went to High School and an opportunity opened up for me to get a job without any hustle. The job literally came looking for me! My sister is now in Form 4. She is well supplied. I thank God for His faithfulness.
I boldly encourage you to attend any of our services on Wednesdays (6.30-7.30pm) or Sundays (10am-12.30pm) regardless of who you are, the position you hold and where you are at in life or location. You see, it’s not just any other service/ meeting. Each service is specially planned by the Holy Ghost for the purpose of doing something new and glorious in your life. It’s a date with the King. The Lord has a word for you that will bring the change that you desire in your life. If you long for peace, love and joy, God’s presence will fill and satisfy your longing. If you are afflicted and in pain, you will find healing. You may even have achieved much, yours will be to receive much more grace that will launch you to the next and higher level of life. You will surely be blessed to come.
In Global Light, I am the Zoe Worship Team Coordinator. Being the Worship Team Coordinator has been a learning and training experience for me. I have learnt that God doesn’t call the qualified but He qualifies those that He has called. I have learnt patience. I have learnt how to see the best in others.
I am heartily grateful to my man of God, my Father, my Mentor and life couch; Pastor Judah Kalinga, for believing in me and giving me this noble opportunity to serve.
My name is Catherine Wangare Njeri aka Minister Cate and #IamGLM
