Salvation is a gift. A gift is not synonymous to a reward. A gift is given willingly by the giver, it is not attained. To benefit from a gift all that is required is to receive it from the giver. Gifts are not based on merits, qualifications or conditions, they are often giving as an expression of love, mostly unconditional love.
Now, Jesus paid the price for an eternal gift to all mankind. The price tag for that gift was His life. The Son of God had to die for man to be saved.
Salvation expresses The Creator’s deep love (that great attraction, affection and value) He has for and towards humanity. God doesn’t hate anybody even the vilest of offenders. He loves everybody unconditionally.
But what is salvation? Why should I receive it? Do I need it? Can I do without it?
The Greek word for SALVATION is Sozo. It is used in Romans 1:16, which reads, ” For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto SALVATION to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ” Sozo means to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve and make whole.
Everybody needs salvation. Man needed to be saved from the nature of sin (the cause of all of man’s failure).
And now man can experience deliverance from all evil, victoryover all forms of sickness and disease, protection and preservation from any danger. He can also experience spiritual wholeness (evert man craves to connect with the Creator). In essence, the gift of salvation is a package of beautiful things, all which fulfill man’s greatest needs.
How then does one receive this gift? What should I do with this gift or benefit from it? The Bible reveals that if you believe in your heart that Jesus died and was raised from the dead and confess with your mouth that He is Lord then you shall be saved (Romans 10:9)
Thereafter, what remains is to unwrap the gift; find out from the Bible by the help of the Spirit all that the package of salvation has to offer and then enjoy it all.
You cannot lose this gift through misconduct! The reason is, you never attained it! Salvation came in the package of Jesus Himself. The Bible reveals that, ‘The Lord is our salvation!’
If you’re not born again, here’s an opportunity for you to receive Christ and the gift of salvation. Say this prayer out aloud;
Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your Word says, “…that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe Jesus died for me and that he was buried and raised from the dead. Right now, I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life.
I receive by faith eternal life into my spirit. Thank you lord for saving my soul. I now have Christ dwelling in me. I am saved, I am born again, I am a new creation. Hallelujah!
Congratulations! You’re now a child of God!
